Bio Sketch

Professor Dr. Mathias Weske is chair of the business process technology research group at Hasso Plattner Institute of IT Systems Engineering at University of Potsdam, Germany. His research interests include business process management, process choreographies, process modeling methodologies, and service oriented computing. In 2009, he held a Visiting Professor position at the University of California Davis. He leads Oryx, an open source project on business process management. Dr. Weske has published twelve books and over 90 scientific papers in journals and conferences. He is on the steering committee of the BPM conference series. He is a member of ACM, IEEE, and GI, and he is the chairperson of EMISA, the German Computer Science Society Special Interest Group on Development Methods for Information Systems and their Application. Dr. Weske has published a textbook on business process management. He is also the co-author of The Process, a narrative on using the Business Process Modeling Notation BPMN. He is co-founder and Scientific Director of Signavio, a Berlin-based startup company that provides collaborative business process management, both as-a-service and managed.

Teaching Activities in Winter Term 2009/2010 In the current term, we are giving lectures in the HPI bachelor's program and in the master's program. Our teaching activities are complemented by an implementation seminar in the Oryx context in the bachelor's program and a research seminar in the master's program.
